Socialization at Dining Room

As one of the main room in the house, the dining room actually has a function whichis more than simply a place to eat. This space is also serves as a gathering placeamong members of the family.

Dining activities – breakfast or dinner – become one family activities which involves the process of socialization among members of the family, relatives or guests. This activities requires the arrangement of the dining room, more than just chairs and tables.

Nevertheless, the design of the dining hall should also follow the today lifestyle. Family members’ activities levels do not allow “eating-together” into a regular activity every day. Sometimes the events of meal together done elsewhere, eg in a restaurant. Thereby, nowadays dining room appear more practical and far from being a formal dining room as a bygone era.

Where should the dining area located? Given the dining activity is closely related to food preparation, the better location is just off the dining room or kitchen pantry. Thus, open and close the table will be easier to do.

Another position is near the family room. Family activity to “get together” and watch TV in the living room can proceed to the table to eat. Even with the possibility of family members can still watch TV, because the lay out support that.
